Nepal welcomed more than 500,000 foreign tourists in the first five months of 2025, according to data released by the Nepal Tourism Board.
From January to May, a total of 501,264 foreign visitors arrived in the country. The monthly breakdown shows 79,991 arrivals in January, 96,880 in February, 121,800 in March, 116,480 in April, and 86,216 in May.
In May alone, the highest number of tourists came from India (28,160), followed by the United States (9,074), China (8,824), Bangladesh (4,280), and the United Kingdom (3,473).
Additionally, 34,350 tourists arrived from other Asian countries, 13,330 from Europe, 18,069 from different regions, and 1,515 from Middle Eastern countries during May.
The number of foreign tourist arrivals in May 2025 reflects a 95.6 percent increase compared to the same month in the previous year, indicating a strong recovery in Nepal’s tourism sector.
